This week’s 30-second interview is with Pepi Reeves, one of the co-founders of eco-friendly toothbrush brand Reswirl.
The company formed three years ago, with a goal of fighting plastic pollution – it’s a subject that affects everybody and our next generation, so we want to be part of the solution.
We felt that we could use our experience in design, retail and product development to develop a “no compromise” solution to tackling plastic pollution.
Our closed-loop recycling system that doesn’t down-cycle the product. All returned brushes are re-manufactured into new brushes.
The brush and the materials used are also environmentally friendly – as it is produced from bio-based, biodegradable materials.
As its’ a toothbrush for which we believe ultimately everyone can be a customer and benefit from – however initially we want to focus on eco-minded consumers, and provides a product where they don’t have to compromise on quality to make a difference.
Yes, we have been successful in receiving an innovate UK grant – which enabled us to develop the materials used with the Bangor Bio-composite centre and the University of South Wales.
Our manufacturing timelines were hit slightly – but as we manufacture and distribute in the UK through a subscription service, Covid hasn’t significantly affected us.
Initially we intend to grow the range of toothbrushes to kids and electric, and further down the line we intend to bring the material technology and closed loop system to other bathroom and health and beauty products.
